Gary Marschall is the Associate Director of Retail Operations, reporting to Assistant Vice President of Retail Operations, Kris Klinger.
Gary is the newest member of the USC Hospitality’s Executive Team where he oversees Retail Operations on the University Park Campus (UPC). This growing division incudes a Starbucks, the first ever franchised Habit Burger Grill, Panda Express and other national branded and self-developed concepts.
Gary’s career spans three decades with 18 years in retail management for companies such as The Gap and Williams-Sonoma. He later moved to Sports and Entertainment Food and Beverage with Levy Restaurants as the Assistant Director of Operations overseeing all Premium Food Service at the Staples Center as well as positions with the Indian Wells Tennis Tournament and the Americas Cup Yachting Series. Most recently Gary was the District Manager for SusieCakes overseeing seven bakeries in the Los Angeles area.
Gary studied Theatre at Syracuse University. In his downtime Gary enjoys spending time with his family, running with his sons and biking whenever possible. Gary has also continued to be involved in theatre over the years both in New York City as well as Los Angeles. Gary is passionate about providing excellent service at all times which he bases on the Golden Rule of treating people the way that you would want to be treated. His time with Williams-Sonoma and having the opportunity to meet and hear Chuck Williams (founder of Williams-Sonoma) speak had a major influence on his management style and approach to hospitality in general. Gary feels strongly that the internal guest is just as important as the external guest making it incredibly important to support his team members, get to know them and help them grow.
