Edmondson Faculty Center

EFC Menu

In 1978, the Medical Faculty Assembly appointed an ad hoc committee chaired by John W. Parker, M.D., Professor of Pathology, to survey the desirability and feasibility of establishing a faculty center on the Health Sciences Campus. The survey provided an overwhelming affirmation from the faculty and resulted in a membership drive for faculty and senior staff to become charter members of the new Faculty Center.

Contributions from charter members, the Medical Faculty Wives and, most importantly, from Dorothy and Hugh Edmondson, resulted in a matching loan from the University for Completion of Phase One (the main dining room and adjacent bar area).

The Dorothy and Hugh Edmondson Faculty Center was dedicated on July 25, 1982.

Fundraising for Phase Two (addition of two private dining rooms and restroom facilities) commenced. Again, through the generous support of the membership, contributions by the Deans of Medicine, Pharmacy, and the Vice-President for Health Affairs, as well as a major gift from Dorothy and Hugh Edmondson, the fundraising campaign was successful.

Phase Two was completed b June of 1985 and is a tribute to the perseverance of John W. Parker, M.D. and a host of other dedicated faculty, staff, and friends of the Health Sciences Campus who have made this facility available for our use.

The membership is represented by a 12-member Board of Directors. Membership is open to all full-time, part-time and voluntary faculty of the Schools of Medicine and Pharmacy and staff members, grade 7 and above. Other individuals may be granted membership with Faculty Center Board approval. Spouses of members automatically become members, and any member may bring guests to the Faculty Center at any time.

Monthly dues are assessed of each member by payroll deduction; voluntary faculty and others not on USC payroll are billed for dues in advance each fiscal year. A membership charge card is issued to each member. Charges for food and bar service may be paid by payroll deduction of by cash, Visa or MasterCard. Membership cards are accepted at the University Park Faculty Center; reciprocity has been established with UC Irvine and is planned for centers at other institutions. Our Faculty Center Manager can provide you with a membership application form.
